The countdown has begun on one of the biggest weeks in Luton’s history – and your town needs you.
Homegrown boxing hero Linus Udofia is leading our call to action with a clear message that Luton needs the jobs, opportunities, and prosperity that Power Court and Newlands Park will deliver for our town.
This Wednesday (January 16), we will get a decision on Power Court when Luton Borough Council’s Development Control Committee, comprised of elected councillors, make their decision. A decision on Newlands Park will follow on January 30.
Already, we have been boosted by the news that a planning officer’s report is recommending Power Court for approval. But we should not get complacent. There has never been a more important time to get behind your town and demand the progress we all want and deserve.

Last year, undefeated middleweight boxing prospect Linus told us of his dream of a world title fight in the proposed 17,500-seat stadium Luton Town Football Club‘s new stadium at Power Court – but this week’s decision is about so much more than football or boxing.
Power Court, in the centre of Luton, will be transformed into a pleasant and attractive environment, delivering new and exciting facilities to enhance people’s lives, every day and evening of the year.
It will include:
- A 21st century, 17,500-seater football stadium for Luton Town Football Club
- An 1,800-capacity live music venue (the biggest in Beds, Herts and Bucks)
- New and enhanced public piazza meeting space with the River Lea (currently hidden underground) brought to the fore, providing an embankment from which the public can enjoy a view over Luton’s only Grade 1 listed building – St Mary’s Church
- Bars and restaurants
- A small niche cinema
- A medium sized hotel and banqueting venue
- Creche / play area
- Lifestyle retail units
- Supermarket
- 100 car parking spaces
- Beneficial public transport links in close proximity
While Power Court is just half the story – because there will be another critical decision made by the council on January 30, regarding Newlands Park – both developments together will transform Luton town centre and act as a catalyst for further regeneration. They will kick-start a bright new future for our town, so we need both to be approved.
